This week we did a deep dive on the political teen films that (far too briefly) made their theatrical debuts in 1999. We talked about the ambitious but totally Republican Tracy Flick in Election, the demise of Nixon administration brought by way of two teenage girls in Dick, and the dark clique and popularity high school politics that rule Jawbreaker.

This week Margaux and Emilie talk about the golden age of music videos, 1999. Ah yes, the budgets were big, the plots were thin, and if you were lucky, you had a really good episode of Making The Music Video to drum up some hype. Dust off that CD bible and get ready for weird targeted ads after you Google these videos. Follow us! Medium: @oldmillennialspod IG+FB: @theoldmillennialspod

In the midst of this quarantine, let's travel back to simpler times, back when reality tv was low-budget, and there were 20+ VERY EAGER women vying for a chance to date Flavor Flav. We revisited the VH1 Celebreality universe this week, and spoiler alert: it was wild (and at times depressing). We rewatched the Surreal Life, Flavor of Love, I Love New York, and Celebrity Fit Club and all we can say is New York is, and will forever remain, a queen. Also, Sister Patterson for the win.

This week we talk about the wave of blonde popstars that were ruling the airwaves and TRL with Britney back in the late '90s and early '00s. We deep dive into Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore, and Christina Aguilera's careers, and how Jessica and Mandy have both been in the press in the last few months (Jessica with a new book/songs and Mandy with a tour and album). We hope that, like us, you'll be listening to "Candy" and "Genie in a Bottle" on repeat after this episode.

This week, we try to remember our Top 8 and the angsty quotes we featured on profiles because we took a trip down memory lane and talked about the history behind Friendster, MySpace, LiveJournal, and Tumblr. We also sprinkled in some personal anecdotes and Margaux even tried to locate some of her old profiles, while Emilie (sadly) deleted them in a job interview-related social media purge over a decade ago. Come join us, it's a safe space to remember your most mortifying posts, photos, and profiles.

Like sand through the hour glass, these are the iconic couplings of our lives. Ben and Gwen, Brad and Jen, TomKat, and our generations Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. Get out your Us Weekly from 2000, and get to ready read too much into a paparazzi photo cause Emilie and Margaux are talking about the romances we were all way too invested in. Ah, awards season. With this year's Oscars having aired on Sunday, Margaux and Emilie decide to take a trip down memory lane to the Oscars of yesteryear, specifically the 1998-2001 Oscars. We remember Titanic (so many awards), the Miramax films (yikes), American Beauty (double yikes), and all the couples that graced the red carpet and shortly split up months later (Drew Barrymore and Edward Norton, Drew Barrymore and Tom Green, etc. etc.). We also talk about this year's nominees with friend of the pod Trevor Dawson (spoiler: no female directors, a very white acting nominee pool, and no justice for our Uncut Gem Adam Sandler). It was the dawn of a new millennium, or Willennium if you were Will Smith in 1999, or if you're the season 3 premiere of Old Millennials. That's right, Emilie and Margaux welcome our robot overloads in 2020 by looking back at a now quaint crisis better known as Y2K. Need more nostalgia? We're on Medium now: @oldmillennialspod
